If you’ve been wondering about the best time to get married in Puerto Rico, I’m so glad you’re here. As a Puerto Rico wedding photographer, I’ve learned that timing matters. Technically speaking, the best time to get married in Puerto Rico is during the dry season from December through April. This is when you’ll find warm, sunny weather with minimal rain risk, perfect for beach wedding ceremonies and outdoor celebrations.

December through April offers what most couples are typically hoping for; beautiful sunshine, moderate temperatures hovering around 83-85°F, and lower humidity. The rain risk during this period is minimal, which is comforting when you’re planning an outdoor ceremony.
However, this is also the peak tourist season in Puerto Rico. Beaches will be more crowded, venues book up quickly, and prices tend to be higher across the board. If you’re planning on getting married in Puerto Rico during these months, I recommend booking 9 to 12 months in advance to secure your preferred venue and vendors, such as your Puerto Rico wedding planner or a bridal makeup artist.
If you’re looking for that balance of good weather and lower costs, May, June, and November are worth your consideration. These “shoulder season months” still offer warm temperatures and sunshine, with a lower risk of rain compared to late summer. You’ll often find better rates on romantic wedding venues, accommodations, and even vendor services.
The weather during these months is still beautiful (perhaps slightly warmer) and may have the occasional afternoon showers but nothing that would deter you if you have a backup plan in place.

September and October fall during peak hurricane season, bringing the highest risk of storms and sustained rain. While Puerto Rico doesn’t get hit by hurricanes every year, the possibility exists, and these months typically see more rainfall even without tropical systems.
If these are the only months that work for your schedule, it’s absolutely possible to have a beautiful wedding. You’ll just want to ensure your venue has a solid indoor backup option and that you’re comfortable with some weather uncertainty.
As a Puerto Rico photographer, I can tell you that each season is slightly different from the others. The dry season gives us consistently clear skies and reliable sunshine. Shoulder season brings more cloudy skies and occasional showers. But keep in mind, even rainy season weddings can produce beautiful, romantic portraits.
Perfect weather isn’t what will matter most on the day of, and if you hire a Puerto Rico wedding photographer that knows how to work with whatever weather forecast conditions your day brings, you’ll have one less thing to worry about.
Deciding on the best time to get married in Puerto Rico ultimately depends on what brings you the most peace of mind. If predictable weather and classic beach conditions are a priority, aim for December through April. If you value better pricing and still-beautiful weather, May, June, or November might be perfect. And if you’re flexible and adventurous, even summer and early fall can offer their own rewards.
