Early in the morning to avoid the crowds, the heat and get some quiet in the city, we started near one of San Juan’s prettiest café’s and ended at el Morro. Photographing in Viejo San Juan is one of my most common locations, and these are the recommendations I have on attire as a Puerto Rico Photographer.

The streets of San Juan are beautiful, but have lots of uneven ground or sneaky elevation. You won’t regret bringing a pair of comfortable shoes, and leaving the thin heels at home. While the early morning or late evening will have cooler weather, you’ll still most likely be surprised by how warm it gets at these times. Breathable clothing, light layers and a strong setting spray are going to be your best friend.

It’s normal to see lots of maternity images focusing on making hearts on the stomach with both hands or holding a sonogram, but i tend to approach these differently. I like to photograph maternity sessions like a couple session let’s us be creative with how we highlight your baby on the way. Bringing inspiration that revolves more around you two and letting us hint at your little one on the way will give a much more visually interesting gallery.

When thinking of your outfit, consolidate your belongings in a bag you like the look of. Lots of your favorite images will be you two walking ahead of me as we move to the next location. If your hands are full of items and it’s troublesome to move from location to location it’ll feel like a longer trek.

Let’s talk more if you’re looking for an artful eye to photograph your maternity sesion. I photograph weddings and couples throughout the island, and I approach every session with deep joy to capture your love.
Congratulations on this beautiful chapter. Inquire today and let’s document your maternity session in Puerto Rico.
